ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE SPECIALIST

O’Connell and Aronowitz is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our accounting department.  The ideal candidate needs to be detail-oriented, flexible, able to multi-task, and adhere to set deadlines.

Job Duties:

  • Process monthly statements for the attorneys
  • Monitor and collect accounts receivable by contacting clients via email and phone
  • Perform daily cash management duties, including making deposits, processing credit card payments, and posting cash in the billing system
  • Setup new clients in billing system
  • Reconcile accounts, review aging monthly and work with attorneys to determine if any old balances need to go to collections
  • Other A/R billing duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Proficient Data Entry Skills
  • Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Minimum 3-5 years accounts receivable experience (law firm preferred)
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with attorneys and clients

PARALEGAL

O’Connell and Aronowitz is seeking an experienced part-time paralegal to join our team in our Saratoga officeWe are searching for a task-oriented candidate with strong verbal and written communication skills. This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating attorney’s schedules; case management and file review, including drafting legal documents and correspondence, preparing cases for deposition and trial, managing discovery and trial schedules, and reviewing medical records; and other duties and special projects as assigned. To be considered for this position, candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, and list of references.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ experience as a civil and/or estate litigation paralegal
  • Experience drafting legal documents, such as pleadings and discovery demands
  • Willingness to learn additional areas of specialized litigation practice
  • Perform all aspects of estate planning, estate administration and trust administration
  • High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and HotDocs software
  • Experience with E-filing documents with local and Federal Courts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to work independently but also follow direction when given

Additional Considerations and Benefits:

  • A paralegal certificate or degree is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Worldox and TABS (STI) legal billing programs is preferable.
  • Knowledge of guardianship matters and Medicaid applications preferable.

LAW CLERKS

Every summer, O’Connell and Aronowitz seeks a studious and passionate law clerk for our thriving practice. The successful candidate will work with several different Attorneys daily, managing his or her schedule based on current demand. If you are a law student (L2 or L3) with excellent grades and a flexible schedule, you will be perfect for this position. We offer the opportunity to gain experience with Attorneys who serve in a wide variety of capacities representing clients in litigation, business, health facilities. The law clerk will have a broad range of duties including conducting legal research, preparing memos, drafting motions and legal briefs and supports attorneys by assembling and organizing information for legal documents; researching law; assembling case materials; writing reports and memoranda.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to draft motions
  • Ability to independently handle multiple priorities and deadlines while simultaneously functioning smoothly as part of a team in a close-knit environment
  • Impeccable writing, organizational, and communication skills are a MUST
  • Must be L2 or L3
