MATRIMONIAL & FAMILY LAW ASSOCIATE

O’Connell and Aronowitz seeks an associate with at least three (3) years of experience to join its
matrimonial and family law practice. Candidates should have excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills. The position will be responsible for assuming substantial responsibility for client matters and demonstrating leadership within our practice. The positions offers the opportunity for remote work, excellent growth, and advancement opportunities.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years prior experience in handling matrimonial and family law matters in New York State Supreme and Family Courts.
  • Experience in drafting pleadings, discovery, motion practice, oral advocacy, and trials.
  • Admission to the New York bar is required.

PARALEGAL

O’Connell and Aronowitz is seeking an experienced paralegal to join our team in the health department. We are searching for a task-oriented candidate with strong verbal and written communication skills interested to grow in additional areas of specialized litigation practice. This position will be responsible for managing attorney’s schedules and case management, which includes drafting legal documents, preparing cases for deposition and trial, managing discovery and trial schedules, and reviewing medical records. To be considered for this position, candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, and list of references.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years prior experience as a civil and commercial paralegal.
  • Previous participation with filing E-documents in local and federal courts.
  • Experience with commercial real estate transactions.
  • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiar with preparing for trials, overseeing service of subpoenas, and preparation of trial notebooks.
  • Background knowledge in drafting legal documents, such as pleadings and discovery demands.

Additional Considerations and Benefits:

  • A paralegal certificate or degree is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Worldox and TABS (STI) legal billing programs is preferable.

LAW CLERKS

Every summer, O’Connell and Aronowitz seeks a studious and passionate law clerk for our thriving practice. The successful candidate will work with several different Attorneys daily, managing his or her schedule based on current demand. If you are a law student (L2 or L3) with excellent grades and a flexible schedule, you will be perfect for this position. We offer the opportunity to gain experience with Attorneys who serve in a wide variety of capacities representing clients in litigation, business, health facilities. The law clerk will have a broad range of duties including conducting legal research, preparing memos, drafting motions and legal briefs and supports attorneys by assembling and organizing information for legal documents; researching law; assembling case materials; writing reports and memoranda.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to draft motions
  • Ability to independently handle multiple priorities and deadlines while simultaneously functioning smoothly as part of a team in a close-knit environment
  • Impeccable writing, organizational, and communication skills are a MUST
  • Must be L2 or L3
