O’Connell and Aronowitz Closes Offices for Juneteenth Holiday

  • Apr 18 2020

On Friday, June 19th, we are closed in observance of the Juneteenth holiday, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

One hundred and fifty-five years ago, on June 19, 1865, Union Army soldiers arrived at Galveston, Texas, with news that all slaves were now free. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the abolishment of slavery in the United States. First recognized as a holiday in the State of Texas, it is now commemorated as a holiday by nearly every state in the U.S.

O’Connell and Aronowitz encourages everyone to take the opportunity on Juneteenth to reflect on the importance of freedom and justice to everyone in our great nation.
