Roland Cavalier is Of Counsel to the firm and has been advising business clients for over four decades. His broad-based practice concentrates in the area of business law with representation of corporate and other business clients including shareholders of closely-held corporations, partners in partnerships and members of limited liability companies.
Roland services clients over a wide range of industries, including professional practices, technology enterprises, manufacturers, retailers, refuse collection/disposal service providers, construction contractors, architects and engineers, property owners and developers. He has significant experience in acquisitions and sales of privately-held companies, having served as lead counsel in several multi-million dollar transactions. Roland has tried and argued business law cases before the New York State Courts, as well as Federal Courts in New York (Northern and Southern Districts), New Jersey and Ohio.
In addition to civil litigation in the court system, Roland has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution. Certified by the American Arbitration Association, he has acted as an arbitrator for business/commercial and construction disputes since 1974 and is certified by Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), as a non-public arbitrator. He’s been both sole arbitrator and member of a panel of arbitrators in variety of commercial arbitration cases, including breach of contract, commercial real estate, trademark infringement, construction disputes, customer – stockbroker disputes (primarily via FINRA, formerly known as NASD) and disputes between shareholders/business owners. He was recently appointed as a mediator by the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of New York.
With significant experience in securities law, Roland has represented both customers and stockbrokers in the arbitration and mediation of such disputes. He has also represented companies in the sale of securities in Regulation D transactions.
Before joining O’Connell and Aronowitz, Roland was most recently Of Counsel at Tuczinski, Cavalier & Gilchrist, P.C. and served as Managing Partner at several other local and region firms. He has earned Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer review rating of AV Preeminent.
