Nicholas is an Associate working in our Business Law and Transactions and Health Law departments. Joining O&A in August of 2021, Nicholas focuses largely on business law topics and cannabis.
Cannabis law is Nicholas’ passion, and he strives to provide guidance to applicants and licensees (including Conditional Adult Use Retail Dispensaries (“CAURD”) and Adult-Use (“AU”)) who are uncertain and overwhelmed by the onerous requirements imposed by New York’s Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (“MRTA”) and the regulations implemented by New York’s Office of Cannabis Management (“OCM”).
In addition to cannabis, Nicholas also focuses on commercial litigation, general compliance (corporate, employment, Medicaid/Medicare), creditors and debtor’s rights, data security and privacy, residential and commercial leases and evictions, real estate closings, and transactional and regulatory advice for both business and healthcare clients.
Nicholas previously worked as a Legal Clerk to an Impartial Hearing Officer for New York State Special Education cases, assisted in drafting and issuing decisions and various orders to aid in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (“IEP”) for school-aged students with disabilities.
While in law school, he served as an Intern to Corporate Counsel for Beech-Nut Nutrition Company, where, in addition to assisting Beech-Nut’s Corporate Counsel in managing a contract repository, he researched legal issues including data privacy, corporate governance, b-corporation standards, and litigation topics including foreign object and equal employment opportunity claims.
Originally from Mechanicville, New York, Nicholas enjoys seeing concerts and spending time with his cat, Courthouse.
