Colleen is an Associate working in the Health Law practice group. Her practice includes a wide range of state and federal civil litigation, including Article 78 actions, as well as transactional work and other advisory services. Colleen brings nearly eight years of State government experience, having worked in several important roles for the New York State Legislature and the New York State Division of Budget before joining O’Connell and Aronowitz.
During her law school career, Colleen was a legal extern for the New York State Attorney General’s Litigation Bureau, as well as a judicial extern for the Honorable Mae D’Agostino of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
Colleen earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Albany Law School where she was the Dean’s Scholarship recipient, as well as the recipient of the Gary M. Peck ’79 Memorial Scholarship for her environmental contributions before and during her law school career. Colleen was the Co-Editor-In-Chief of the New York State Bar Association’s New York Environmental Lawyer Student Editorial Board. She also served as the Managing Editor of the Government Law Review Online. Colleen is originally from Long Island and she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in philosophy from the University at Albany.
Recently, Colleen has presented “The Nursing Home Legal Landscape” at the 26th Annual Fall Education Conference held by NYSHFA/NYSCAL in November 2021, and “Legal and Regulatory Issues Affecting Long-Term Care” at the 73rd Annual Conference and Expo for NYSHFA/NYSCAL.
