Supporting Veterans: Our Nation’s Focus Today, Our Firm’s Focus Year Round
On Veterans Day, O’Connell and Aronowitz joins our nation in recognizing, honoring and thanking those who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. We recognize that our clients depend on and benefit from the rights, liberties and freedoms that our veterans have fought to protect. Thank you!
Desserts were plenty at the Albany office “Bake Off’ Competition held in September to benefit the VBC Scholarship Program. At O’Connell & Aronowitz, we aim to serve and assist those who serve us. In 2015, our firm launched a Military Law practice area to provide focused representation for service members in military criminal, administrative and disciplinary matters, as well as federal litigation connected with veteran’s employment and reemployment rights and benefits. Integral to the practice area launch was Scott Iseman, who joined O&A 2014. Scott, a Partner in our Litigation Department, served as a U.S. Marine and continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the Veterans Business Council of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. The VBC’s mission is to facilitate business and employment opportunities for military veterans residing in Saratoga County by connecting them to the community to enhance their knowledge of job/entrepreneurial training, new business development and job opportunities.
In September we hosted an in-office fundraiser for the VBC that elicited a competition that was fierce – and sweet. Focused on American-themed desserts, attorneys and staff paid an entry fee to sample the 25+ desserts baked by their colleagues in the tasty and calorie-laden pursuit of first, second and third place finishers. The event raised $600 for the VBC scholarship program which provides two $5,000 scholarships to Saratoga County veterans.
We were proud sponsors of the VBC’s first annual Corn Hole tournament held September 14th at the Excelsior Avenue VFW in Saratoga which raised funds for the VBC projects and programs. And on Saturday, November 2nd, O&A Partner Matt Dorsey took part in the 8th Annual Saratoga County Veterans Trust Fund 5K Race in Saratoga. He is pictured with his wife Sarah in photo at right.
O’Connell and Aronowitz is grateful for the service and sacrifice of the members and veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
