Kelly J. Mikullitz and Matthew J. Dorsey named Senior Shareholders at O&A
O’Connell and Aronowitz, one of the Capital District’s largest, locally owned, full-service law firms, announces the promotion of attorneys Kelly J. Mikullitz and Matthew J. Dorsey to Senior Shareholders.
“As we enter our 97th year, we are very pleased to have Kelly and Matt become Senior Shareholders at O’Connell and Aronowitz,” said firm President Michael McDermott. “Collectively, Kelly and Matt have been with our firm for over three decades, and they possess tremendous expertise in their respective areas of practice.”
Kelly J. Mikullitz
Kelly significantly concentrates her legal practice in our Family and Matrimonial Law Department with attorneys Florence Richardson and William Berglund. Together, Attorneys Mikullitz, Richardson, and Berglund have over seventy years of experience in zealously advocating for clients with difficult family matters, including divorces; legal separations; custody/parenting time disputes; issues regarding spousal maintenance and child support; and the drafting of prenuptial, post-nuptial, and separation agreements. They take great pride in compassionate collaboration with their clients while guiding them through these difficult personal matters.
Kelly is also the managing partner of the firm’s Lead Poisoning and Toxic Exposure Litigation Group where she has represented hundreds of injured children and adults throughout the last fifteen years, dedicating a significant amount of her practice to advocating for individuals with serious brain injuries. Since 2006, Kelly has been an active member of the Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) and has served on their Board of Directors since 2014. She is an active member of their Resource Management, Membership, Governance, and Executive Committees, and formerly served as Secretary and 2nd Vice President before being elected 1st Vice President in June 2019.
Kelly’s community service efforts also include her service to the Third Judicial District’s Committee on Character and Fitness and her active participation in the End Distracted Driving Student Awareness Initiative. She was honored to be designated as an Attorney for Children by the Third Judicial Department Office of Attorneys for Children in 2016 and worked in that capacity through 2020.
Kelly was twice named to the Upstate New York Rising Stars List by Super Lawyers, which acknowledges attorneys under 40 years old and in practice less than 10 years. The distinction is earned by less than 2.5% of all attorneys in New York State.
