Michael P. McDermott Named O&A President as Jeffrey J. Sherrin Steps Down

Mike McDermott to continue O’Connell and Aronowitz’s 95-year tradition of providing exceptional legal service as the Firm’s new President.

It is both an honor and distinct pleasure to announce that Michael P. McDermott has succeeded Jeffrey J. Sherrin as President of O’Connell and Aronowitz as Jeff steps down from the role after 13 years.

Mike, who is an integral part of our firm’s renowned criminal defense and personal injury litigation practices, has been with O&A since 2007. He joined the Firm after a lengthy career with the Albany County District Attorney’s office.

“I look forward to continuing our 95-year tradition of providing exceptional legal services to our clients while partnering with local civic organizations to improve the quality of life in the Capital District,” McDermott said of his new position. “O’Connell and Aronowitz has been the trusted legal advisor to over three generations of families and businesses and we are well positioned to continue that tradition for generations to come.”

Under his watch as Firm President, Jeff spearheaded expansion of our health law and business law practices. He said we are poised for McDermott to continue the Firm’s growth.

“While deciding to step down from this position I have been privileged to hold for so many years, one of my hopes was to find a successor who would not only continue the existing initiatives but also bring new vigor and foresight to the task,” said Sherrin. “Mike is just the person to do that.”
