Helping a Client Clean Up an Oily Mess

Imagine 100 gallons of fuel oil pumped into the basement of your home by mistake and the oil company refuses to compensate you for your loss. Further imagine the frustration of dealing with lawyers who want you to either settle your claim for far less than its worth or are unwilling to help at all. Finally, imagine not having the resources to look elsewhere for assistance.

That was the situation for a young mother in Cobleskill when she finally asked for help from Albany County Bar Association and was referred to Kelly Mikullitz, the lead attorney in O’Connell and Aronowitz’s Environmental Torts practice group. Kelly accepted the case on a pro bono basis and within 90 days  secured a settlement nearly four times what the oil company previously offered. The settlement covered all repairs, replaced the client’s personal property, compensated her for her home’s diminished property value and released her from all further liability.

“I have had many experiences with attorneys and have never experienced the commitment, follow-through and heart that I was fortunate enough to have in Attorney Mikullitz,” the client reported in her glowing rating of Kelly’s work on the Avvo  lawyer rating website. “At my time of greatest duress she came through. My experience with Attorney Mikullitz was exemplary.”

Kelly and the team of Personal Injury attorneys of O’Connell and Aronowitz represent clients with a passionate devotion to fighting for their civil and consumer rights. They collaborate with clients every step of the way to find the best possible resolution to every case which was indeed what occurred here.
