Founded by Edward J. O'Connell and Samuel E. Aronowitz in 1925, O'Connell and Aronowitz is a part of Albany's rich historical tapestry. Both Mr. O'Connell and Mr. Aronowitz were deeply engaged in the business, political, and community life of Albany.

Samuel E. Aronowitz, a veteran of the First World War and State Commander of the American Legion began his career in law as an advocate for veterans with disabilities. A prolific figure, he was instrumental in the foundation of the Green Island Bank and its president until 1937.

Mr. O'Connell was active in Democratic politics. In the 1930s, he was Chair of the Albany County Democratic Party and a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention. Important political figures in the area frequently visited his office, among them Erastus Corning II, Supreme Court Justice Joseph Rosch and Lieutenant Governor William Bray.
