Founded in 1925, O’Connell and Aronowitz is one of the Capital District’s oldest and most respected law firms. Our alumni include, Mary O. Donohue, Judge of the New York State Court of Claims and former Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York who was the first woman elected District Attorney in Rensselaer County; Barbara G. Billet, the former Acting Commissioner of the New York State Department of Tax and Finance and former New York State Solicitor General; and, Sol Greenberg, who was the longest tenured Albany County District Attorney, serving from 1975 until 2000, when he retired.

O’Connell and Aronowitz is proud to be one of the law firms recognized by the Capital District Women’s Bar Association with its annual Carol S. Knox Family Friendly Employer Award. This award recognized the efforts made by the firm to provide its attorneys with flexible hours and work requirements that allow people to do a good job for the firm, while still doing a good job for their families. Although the firm is an old established law firm, it has been a forerunner in the effort to create balance between work and family.
